Come and spend the day at The Wool Sanctuary learning a knitting or crochet technique at one of the many workshops we have on offer. All workshops are held at The Wool Sanctuary 68, Ashcombe Road, Weston Super Mare. BS23 3DX. Day workshops run from 10.30-4pm except for the Sock workshop & Rose Bag workshop which will run from 9-5pm. Lunch will be provided along with hot and cold refreshments throughout the day. Please advise of any dietary requirments. Afternoon Classes will run from 2-4pm hot and cold refreshments will be provided.
Learn how to finish off knitted garments and items professionally at this 2 hour workshop. Techniques taught include sewing in ends neatly, joining in a new ball/different colour yarn, mattress stitch to join knitted pieces together and picking up stitches to knit edges.This workshop runs from 9-5pm
Spend the day learning how to knit this Rose Bag. Techniques taught throughout the day include using the intarsia colour technique, knitting with beads, knitting in the round, sewing up the bag and lining it.
(yarn for the rose bag can be bought on the day or knitters can bring their own yarn. If you want a kit (£30) then this will need to be preordered, colours vary from kit to kit)
Learn to crochet a willow square in either one colour or a number of different colours. You will need to be able to make a chain, double and treble crochet to attend this workshop. At the end of the workshop you will be able to make a willow blanket as shown.
At this workshops you will learn how to knit socks by mastering casting on with double Pointed Needles (DPNs), knitting in the round, turning the heel, and finishing off the toe with kitchener stitch.
Learn to crochet a granny square in one or more colours. You will need to be able to crochet a chain, double crochet and treble crochet to attend this workshop. You will make a good start on either a blanket or other granny square piece in 2 hours.
At this class you will learn how to hold your hook in a way that is comfortable for you, make a chain, double crochet (dc) and treble crochet (tr). Once you have learnt these techniques you will be able to make a crochet piece in either double or treble crochet.
Learn to finish off your knitted garments and items professionally. You will be taught how to sew in ends neatly, join in yarn, pick up stitches, block, mattress stitch knitted pieces together, wrap stitch to create a smooth shoulder.
